Re: Стихийные бедствия в Самоа и Филиппинах (черный сентябрь 09)
Пришло от владельцев ресорта в Самоа, с которыми я поддерживаю связь. Пишут уже детали того, что там произошло из-за цунами и о текущих делах:
Talofa Andrey
We have just managed to get our phones back on & now has internet access for the first time since the Tsunami. We apologize for not contacting you earlier however we have been awaiting phone lines to be reconnected & salvage whatever we could in the attempt to relocate the office & brain to Seabreeze’s only remaining fale. Today we celebrate that stage one of this long process has been achieved!
We are grateful & thank God that all Guests, our wonderful staff, Chris & I as well as Lucy, Bobby & Tiger escaped without injury, it is with Great sadness that we remember those who were not so fortunate. We sincerely thank you all for your kind words of support & look forward to our re-opening as soon as is possible.
On September 29th we sustained serious damage, nothing from the Earthquake (a testament to Chris’s excellent building skills) all the damage was from the following Tsunami. The restaurant & two over the beach fales are totally destroyed, Due to extensive damage the Honeymoon fale will need to be demolished. All other fales are still standing but will need extensive reinstatement; we are still awaiting an engineer’s reports in regards to the level of rebuilding that is necessary, the Lagoon View Fale is untouched. Our main problem is that we have lost a large portion of land around the resort & therefore we will need civil engineering to reclaim land & fill, this will enable us to rebuild in the same locations, we are awaiting assessment from the government on this. With so many hypothetical scenarios we are unable to advise you of our re-opening date BUT WE WILL REBUILD!
Chris & I have a passion for Samoa & Seabreeze that even this devastation will not dampen, the day after the Tsunami, we rose our Samoan Flag high above the rubble to show our determination to rebuild, our staff have remained with us throughout & whilst we endeavor to cleanup they continue to turn up to work each day & Waiters, Chefs, Kitchen hands & Cleaners work tirelessly to clean up & then rebuild their beloved “Seabreeze”. Out of disaster has become hope, we are endeavoring to keep as many of our 27 staff on as possible as there are no other employment opportunities for them either here or Apia, so many are looking for jobs.
Last week the staff split their Tip money just before White Sunday (Children’s day) they had $9,300.00 Tala between them, all of the staff were thrilled with their Bonus J For those who turn up for work we are still feeding & paying them at this stage, we have received several donations all going to the upkeep of the staff & subsequently their families. This disaster goes far beyond that of the tragedy on the day of the Tsunami & will impact on locals in the coming months when several are dealing with the loss of loved ones, have no chance of employment & no money for the families that they support (several of our staff support up to 15 other family members), so it is vital that we give them any form of employment that we can.
Despite everything we all look forward to a more positive future ahead of us, for now the will & determination for all of us lives on. To keep everyone informed we will post new photo’s on the web
